These 60L barrels have served us well at KJ. We primarily use them to ferment, store, and age wine. We recently bought new ones and are hoping to find a new home for our used ones. Have only had standard fermentations with our juices (ie, no Brett or sour cultures).
There are signs of use on them. Particulary built up wine crystals on the inside. Some are yellow/white for use for white wines and cider. Some are red for use with red wines. Have a look at the photos to see what they look like.
The Crystals can be removed with a mixture of oxiclean and water - we are holding off doing that as it is a lot of water to use.
