What's Happening at KJ

Want to make your own cider at home? Well we're excited to announce that we will be bringing in freshly pressed apple cider juice this fall!

We are packaging the cider in our 11L (2.9 Gallon) plastic canisters. It is extremely fresh, and it is best if it is picked up within 14 days of its arrival here. 

Each 11L canister is $25.99 with no tax - we have a limited quantity available.

In case you have not heard of Thermoworks, they are the company who makes the world famous Thermapens. We have wanted to carry their various kitchen items here at KJ for the longest time, and now we finally have a selection of their items.

Back in mid April I visited Niagara to do some ‘research’ with friends. We had planned the trip months before, we figured it would not be super warm – but spring temps would be in effect. Were we ever wrong. It was an icy, snowy, windy weekend that almost shut down the Skyway. The winemakers we spoke to were fairly concerned about the delayed start to the season – they were already 2-3 weeks behind schedule. The ice storm was the proverbial cherry on top.

Anyone who has been in the shop in the last few weeks has noticed that our chalkboard is dotted with ‘coming soon’. Due to last years poor growing season we were not able to get the same amount of juice as usual, and now at the end of the 2017 season we are running low.

The good news though is the new juice is not far away, and we’re offering a pre-sale on the 2018 harvest starting today.

We are proud to announce our 8th annual July Wine Sale. Starting Monday, July 24 we will be offering 20% off five of our wines made in store, and 10% off the same juices for home winemakers. This is our biggest sale of the year! This years juice list is quite a bit different from last year, our two most popular white wines are making the sale for the first time. There is no limit on how much can be ordered, feel free to stock up!

We’ve got a new website,  a new blog,  a new name, and we did a complete renovation of the store. We thought it would be fun to show you a before and after of all the changes that have been made. This renovation, along with the other changes had been a long time coming. We are so excited about what has been accomplished, and are so appreciative of all the positive feedback it has garnered.

I have a preferred way that I like to taste wine with. It is not the right way, it is not the wrong way, it is quite simply my way. My method is inspired from a number of tastings I have done, but in particular the wine tasting I did at Ravine Winery (Great winery by the way.) in the summer of 2016 was the most influential.
